Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish is committed to safeguarding and upholding the dignity and rights of all, and particularly our children and vulnerable people. We seek to empower children, their families and carers, and vulnerable people, to have a say, to be listened to, and to be protected. Parish School of Religion for children and teens not attending a Catholic School

For children in pre-school through to Year 12. Tuesday nights of school terms 6-7pm in St Monica's Church Meeting Room, 18 Deffell St, Evatt. Pre-School children must be accompanied by a parent. Parents are always welcome. Fee is $30 per child/teen per year. Registrations are open through the Qkr! App. Select our Lady of Perpetual Help and then Parish School of Religion.  Children who enrol for a Reconciliation, First Holy Communion/Eucharist or Confirmation who do not attend a Catholic School will need to attend the School of Religion for the period of their preparation for the Sacrament. During the enrolment for the Sacrament you are able to enrol them in the School of Religion as an option rather than through the School of Religion registration form.  You only need to enrol once for the year.

Children's Sacraments this Year (2026)

Reconciliation (usually for children in Year 4 or above) is finished for 2026. It will be held again during Term 1 of 2027.

Confirmation (usually for children in Year 6 and above) is finished for 2026. It will be held again in 2027.

First Holy Communion/Eucharist (usually for children in Year 4 or above) will be in Term 3 this year:

• Parent and Child Formation Evening: 6pm, Thursday the 23rd of July, St Michael's Church.
• Children's Retreat Day and Parent and Child Prayer Meeting: Thursday the 13th of August.
• Sacrament: Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th of August.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions the parish moved to a one collection at each Mass to reduce movement of parishioners.  The sole collection includes envelopes, and loose notes and coins.  The collection will be split between the parish and the central presbytery fund on a 70:30 split.  That is, 70% is retained by the parish to meet operational expenses.

The parish sincerely thanks all parishioners who contribute to this collection in loose notes and coins and, those parishioners who contribute through the Planned Giving Program envelopes.

Parishioners who contribute through an envelope are requested to consider moving to a direct debit arrangement.  A direct debt contribution would not only assist in ensuring a regular cash flow but would also reduce the need to handle large volumes of cash.  An alternative to a direct debit arrangement is the use of the credit card authority on a monthly basis.  Forms are available under the APPLICATION FORMS tab at the top of this page.

There are no longer two collections at Masses.  Should you wish to make a contribution to the Central Presbytery fund to support the priests of Archdiocese you can do this by making a bank transfer to the Central Presbytery Fund, BSB 062 786, Ac No 00029248 with Reference:  your parish locality and your family name  (eg BelNorth Smith).  It's important to include the reference so that funds can be allocated correctly.  Alternatively, you can arrange for funds to be debited regularly from your bank account.  Download the form from the APPLICATION FORMS tab at the top of this page.

The Institute of Professional Standards and Safeguarding has requested that all parish volunteers be familiar with the guidelines for child protection in our archdiocese.  The Child Protection - Code of Conduct document and the Acknowledgement form have  been uploaded to the Policies section of this website.  All parish volunteers should read the document and sign the Code of Conduct Acknowledgement form. Please scan the signed form and send it via email to the parish office or place the signed form in the locked church letter box.
